WHO DO YOU TREAT?
I have extensive training across the lifespan, and I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and adults. I primarily treat clients struggling with Anxiety Disorders, OCD, life changes and stressors, parenting, relationship difficulties, AD/HD and disruptive behavior disorders, and sports performance issues.
HOW DO I SET UP AN APPOINTMENT?
You can contact me directly by email or phone to schedule a free phone consultation. If you are interested in proceeding with treatment, an initial evaluation will be scheduled at the end of the call.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING AN INITIAL EVALUATION?
I conduct a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, lasting between one to two hours depending on whether the client is a minor or an adult. For child and adolescent patients, the initial evaluation will be split between the child and parents. In addition to a diagnostic interview, the initial evaluation may involve self-report questionnaires and consultation with school personnel and other treatment providers. At the conclusion of the evaluation, I will provide initial diagnostic impressions and a proprosed treatment plan.
WHAT IS THE TYPICAL LENGTH OF TREATMENT?
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy differs from other therapeutic modalities in its emphasis on time-limited, solution-oriented treatment. But there is no one size fits all approach to CBT, and treatment length depends on a number of factors, including symptom severity, comorbid conditions, and client motivation and compliance with treatment homework.
HOW OFTEN DO I COME FOR SESSIONS?
At the start of treatment, sessions are held once weekly for 45 minutes. Once a client has made clear progress and is able to manage their symptoms more independently, I strive to foster this independence by gradually decreasing session frequency (e.g., every-other-week followed by monthly sessions), with the option to resume weekly sessions should symptoms intensify. I offer "booster" sessions for clients who have completed treatment but wish to return for skills review to maintain treatment progress. More intensive treatment options (e.g., two to three sessions per week) are available for clients with symptoms that are impairing daily functioning.
DO I HAVE TO GO ANYWHERE?
Those who prefer to be seen in person are welcome at my office in Scarsdale. I also offer sessions via telehealth, as long as the client is located in a state in which I am licensed to practice (New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut).
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE? HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?
Although I do not accept insurance, insurance companies often provide at least partial reimbursement for out-of-network services. You may wish to call your insurance provider to inquire about coverage for out-of-network services for outpatient behavioral health (e.g., individual therapy, family therapy). When you do so, it might be helpful to provide the standard CPT codes that licensed psychologists use for billing, including 90791 for the initial evaluation and 90834 for a 45-minute individual therapy session. I accept payment at the time services are provided by cash, check, or credit card. At the end of each month I will provide a statement that you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.
