What is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy?

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, or CBT, is a short-term (e.g., 3-12 months), evidence-based, and solution-focused treatment aimed at improving functioning and alleviating distress. CBT is based on the notion that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all interrelated-- to function better, we must make changes to the ways that we think and act. CBT is effective across the lifespan, with interventions tailored to the individual to ensure optimal outcomes.
